Day 1: Kayakoy Ancient Site Walk (5 km)
Kaya Misafir Evi, local accommodation in Kayakoy/Keciler - Abandoned Village of Kayakoy Kayakoy is a ghost village with a rich history. Once known as Levissi, it was a thriving Greek settlement until the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. The village was subsequently abandoned, leaving behind over 500 stone houses, two historic churches, and several chapels scattered across the hillside. The silent, weathered structures tell stories of a vibrant community that once flourished here. Today, Kayakoy stands as an open-air museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the past amidst breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and distant sea. The village is also a popular stop along the Lycian Way, attracting history enthusiasts, photographers, and travelers seeking a peaceful retreat. Kayakoy remains a poignant reminder of cultural heritage and the impacts of history on communities.
Day 2: Ölüdeniz - Kozagac - Faralya - Kabak (19 km)
Kabak Olive Garden Hotel or equivalent - Lycian Way Trail After a short 15-minute transfer, your walk will begin at the starting point of the iconic Lycian Way.
- Butterfly Valley Butterfly Valley (Faralya Village) enclosed by steep cliffs and accessible only by boat (going down on foot to the valley is prohibited), is a haven of tranquility. The valley is named for the hundreds of butterfly species that inhabit the area, particularly the colorful Jersey Tiger butterfly. Its pristine beach, turquoise waters, and lush greenery make it a favorite spot for nature lovers, campers, and adventurers. Faralya, perched above the valley, offering panoramic views. - Kabak Koyu Kabak Bay is a secluded paradise with turquoise waters, a peaceful beach, and lush pine forests. Accessible by a scenic hike or drive, it’s perfect for nature retreats.
Day 3: Kabak - Alınca - Ge (17 km.)
Muhtar's Place, Yediburunlar Pension - After Alinca, route passes by on top of Kalabantia, an ancient Lycian harbour, is a hidden gem perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Accessible only by boat or hiking, it features remnants of ancient stone structures and tombs. Its secluded location offers tranquility and stunning panoramic coastal views.
Day 4: Ge - Sidyma (9 km)
Sema Hotel Gelemis (Transfer from Sidyma to Gelemis via Letoon and Xanthos, accommodation very close to Patara) - Sidyma Ancient City Sidyma, an ancient Lycian city, offering a captivating blend of history and rural charm. Known for its well-preserved tombs, sarcophagi, and temple ruins, Sidyma reflects Lycian and Roman architectural styles. Unlike more touristy sites, it remains largely untouched, nestled within a traditional Turkish village. - Letoon Letoon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the religious center of ancient Lycia, dedicated to the goddess Leto and her children, Apollo and Artemis. The site features three well-preserved temples, an ancient theater, and inscriptions in Lycian, Greek, and Aramaic. Surrounded by tranquil marshlands, Letoon holds great historical and cultural significance. Day 5: Patara Ancient Site & Sarnicbasi - Saribelen (17 km)
Mozaik Pension in Saribelen (after 30 mins of transfer from Patara to Sarnicbasi locality, walk ends at your pension) - Patara Ruins Patara, an ancient Lycian city, is renowned for its historical and cultural significance. Known as the birthplace of Saint Nicholas and an important harbour city, Patara features a well-preserved theatre, parliament building, and Roman triumphal arch. Its expansive sandy beach, one of Turkey’s longest, adds to its charm. As the former capital of the Lycian League, Patara offers visitors a unique blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty in a serene setting.
- Bezirgan Bezirgan Village, located in the hills above Kalkan, is a charming rural settlement known for its traditional way of life and stunning natural surroundings. Nestled in a fertile valley, the village has been a key agricultural hub for centuries. Its cedarwood granaries, called "ambarlar" in Turkish, are iconic structures reflecting the area’s heritage.
Day 6: Saribelen - Gokceoren (13 km.)
Yesil Pension, Gokceoren - Kaputas Beach Passing by on top of Kaputas Canyon, located between Kas and Kalkan, is a striking natural wonder carved by centuries of erosion. Famous for its turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, the canyon opens into the stunning Kaputas Beach, accessible by a steep staircase. You are not able to view the canyon and the beach but locality has stunning panoramic views
Day 7: Gokceoren - Cukurbag (24 km)
3 Oda Kas, Cukurbag - Phellos, an ancient Lycian city, sits atop Mt. Felen offering stunning panoramic views. Known for its well-preserved rock-cut tombs and city walls, it was once an important settlement in the Lycian League. Today, it attracts visitors with its serene atmosphere and historical charm.
Day 8: Cukurbag - Kas (5 km)

Amazing hike on the Lycian Way We are an older couple from Canada who completed a week-long self guided tour of the Lycian Way. Altug Senel, of Global Outdoor Travel, arranged our accommodation, meals, and transfers, and provided daily route maps to suit our preferences. Altug was always available to respond to our queations or requests. The experiece was exceptional and Altug's support allowed us to enjoy the trail, the breathtaking scenery, and the local culture without worrying about logistics. Cannot wait to come back Altug put together 6 day itinerary for my sisters, father and I and we couldn’t have asked for better. From our first transfer, everything was seamless. We hiked from Ovacik to Kas (with some tweaks and gaps to allow for fitness levels and detours) and every day was an absolute joy. This was a self guided hike though Altug was on hand for any questions. The accommodation was great and we loved showing up to places (where no English was spoken) and just saying the magic word “Altug” and everything just happened. Cannot wait to return to Turkey and do more of the Lycian Way with Hike In Turkey.
