This was a wonderful history walk that I recommend to anyone wanting to know more about Manchester and Angel Meadows. Dean told us brilliant, hair-raising stories about lots of the people including many immigrants who built the city. He explained the areas' development, much about the buildings and river Irk as well as how many ordinary people made the best of life despite their grinding poverty. It was an inspiring walk and I'm very much looking forward to reading Dean's book, Angel Meadows.
Having read Deans book about our ancestors and conditions they had lived and survived. Though thousands didn't. I decided to go on the angel meadow tour. Dean was an excellent guide who was passionate and extremely informative about what happened in those days. We should remember our roots and realise how lucky we are. Looking forward to his new book.
A wonderful guided trip around Angel Meadows with Dean. A marvellous insight into the lives of the poorest in Manchester during the Industrial Age. Dean knows and loves his subject, delivered with feeling and humour.

I was born in the area 1955 and dean helped me put a few memories together which made a lot of sense as he was so knowledgeable about the area so thank you dean David Waterhouse
Outstanding on every measure. Tour was interesting and informative. Guide was very knowledgeable in both local and global aspects of industrial Manchester. Tour was well paced with plenty of opportunities for asking questions and hearing about everyone’s local connections to Angel Meadows. It was not overly romanticized nor was it abject Victorian misery. If your interested in Manchester’s industrial history you MUST book this tour.
A fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable tour of Angel Meadows, a notorious rough and dangerous area of Manchester, that has been transformed through gentrification and development. The tour is led by Dean, a former journalist and now writer, whose ancestors where from Angel Meadows. The walking tour, about 90 minutes to 2Hrs, includes historical landmarks, visual aids and personal recollections, told with humor and detail. Some of the history is quite grim and recalls just how tough life was for the locals. It was a really interesting and fun way to learn more about the area and a bit of Manchester history
Absolutely brilliant! I had no idea there was so much history in the Angel Meadows area. I had read Dean’s book but actually walking the area and the many anecdotes that Dean had brought the whole thing to life! I found it worthwhile and enjoyable.
