Flagstaff
Von der Gegend um Phoenix/Scottsdale aus führt uns unsere Route durch die Sonora-Wüste, vorbei an der malerischen Bergstadt Flagstaff. Diese historische Stadt an der Route 66 liegt am Fuße der größten Bergkette Arizonas, der San Francisco Peaks, die wir auf unserer Weiterreise nach Norden in die Lake Powell-Region bestaunen können.

Lower Antelope Canyon
Nach der Ankunft in Page, Arizona, beginnen wir unsere Tour durch den spektakulären Lower Antelope Canyon. Hier besichtigen wir den Lower Antelope Canyon mit einem lokalen Navajo-Führer, der Sie durch die erstaunlichen Naturformationen dieses weltberühmten Slot Canyon führt. Die Fotomöglichkeiten werden unübertroffen sein! Diese Tour erfordert sicheren Stand, Gleichgewicht, Beweglichkeit und Griffigkeit. Horseshoe Bend
Nach unserer Zeit im Antelope Canyon und Page begeben wir uns auf einen malerischen, 1,6 km langen Spaziergang zum Horseshoe Bend Overlook, der durch atemberaubende Ausblicke auf diesen tief eingeschnittenen Kanal und den darunter liegenden Colorado River besticht. Fotos vom Rande dieser Naturschönheit sind auf der ganzen Welt verbreitet und einfach atemberaubend. Dies erfordert einen einfachen Rundweg von 1,5 Meilen auf einem befestigten Weg ohne Schatten.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our private tour from Phoenix to Sedona, Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend. Our guide, Aldo, went above and beyond to make the day fun, comfortable, and memorable for our entire family. Traveling with two children (ages 8 and 12), we really appreciated how accommodating and thoughtful Aldo was throughout the trip. The clean and comfortable full-size SUV made the long day of exploring relaxing and stress-free in the car. It was certainly a long travel day (pickup in Phoenix at our hotel and dropoff), but the incredible sights we were able to experience made it completely worthwhile. Antelope Canyon is absolutely breathtaking—an unforgettable highlight of our Spring Break trip! Aldo has so much knowledge of the area that we would never have learned if we had rented a car and drove ourselves. He shared fun facts about the history, land, and local culture at every stop. He was also patient, flexible, and attentive to our family, making sure everyone was engaged and enjoying themselves. We had a unique request to drive through Sedona to get up to Page so we could stop at "Sedonuts." Boy was that worth it! :) Doing a few other tours in another state, we have found with kids the private tour is the way to go if you are able. Kids will get tired and hungry and need a stop once in awhile. This allowed the day to be completely on our schedule. The memories are unforgettable!
I was unsure what to expect from this tour but was pleasantly surprised. We had Mark H. lead a van of 6, who offered a lot of info on history, topography, etc of AZ & Navajo nation. Tour was smooth, paced appropriately, willing to accommodate. Pick up/drop off exactly as cited. The handoff transition to Navajo tour smooth as well. Overall a great experience to see spectacular slot canyons & horseshoe bend. Vehicle was a van but comfortable. Would use them again.
We just returned from an unforgettable mother-daughter trip with Detours American West, and I truly can’t say enough about how special this experience was—largely thanks to our incredible guide, Mike. From the very beginning, everything was seamlessly planned (Rachel is an amazing planner!), but what made this trip extraordinary were the thoughtful surprises Mike had in store for us. Our itinerary included breathtaking views like Lower Antelope Canyon, Upper Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Shell Cave, Monument Valley, and the Beehive Hike—but what really set this tour apart were the unexpected stops along the way. Mike would pull over where most people would drive right past, knowing there was something truly special waiting to be seen. His deep knowledge of the land, the rock formations, the plants, and the culture brought every moment to life. He also has a wonderful sense of humor that kept us laughing the entire trip—and on top of that, he went above and beyond by taking beautiful photos of us throughout the journey, even capturing incredible drone shots that we’ll treasure forever. Choosing a private tour made all the difference. We were able to relax completely—no worrying about directions, timing, or logistics. Mike handled everything, including taking us to fantastic local spots for meals we never would have found on our own. Most importantly, this trip gave us the gift of uninterrupted, meaningful mother-daughter time—something we will always cherish. Mike didn’t just guide us—he elevated the entire experience into something deeply personal and unforgettable. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. The tour was exceptionally well-organized. We were picked up promptly, and our driver was an excellent and knowledgeable guide who shared fascinating stories and geological insights about the area along the way. We made a few stops for rest and snacks, and both breakfast and lunch were delicious. The entire tour was enchanting and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for making it such a memorable experience.
