   Derinkuyu YeraltI Sehri

   Derinkuyu Underground City, located in the Derinkuyu district of Nevşehir, is one of the largest underground cities in Cappadocia. Approximately 85 meters deep, this structure was designed to accommodate thousands of people. Built for defense in ancient times, it houses living quarters, food depots, water wells, churches, and ventilation shafts. The city, eight of which can be visited, extends to a total of 12 stories. It was used as a shelter for people fleeing attacks, particularly during the Byzantine period. This subterranean engineering marvel is one of Cappadocia's most mysterious and impressive historical structures.

   Selime Monastery

   Welcome everyone to Selime Monastery, one of the most impressive sites in Cappadocia. Before we start climbing, please be careful because the steps are steep and uneven. Wear comfortable shoes and take your time. This monastery was carved into the soft volcanic rock during the Byzantine period, mainly between the 8th and 11th centuries. It was one of the largest religious centers in the region and served as a home for monks, a place of worship, and a center for education. As we walk through the complex, you'll see that this wasn't just a church. It was actually a small self-contained community. There were churches, monks' living quarters, kitchens, storage rooms, stables for animals, and even areas where food and wine were prepared. Everything was carved by hand from the rock, which makes this place even more remarkable.

Pick-ups will begin from Göreme-based hotels at 9:30 or later, with tours departing around 10:00.
