Two couples will never forget their highlights of the Louvre tour with Sophie. She met us at our hotel at 8:30 and had us inside the Louvre just moments after its 9:00 AM opening. For the next 2.5 hours, while Sophie steered us through an increasingly crowded museum, we felt like we were being guided by a very smart friend, someone who was both very knowledgeable and great company. She was extremely well-prepared, utilizing maps and graphics on her tablet to illuminate what we were seeing on the ground. Her approach placed the artworks and architecture of the Louvre in historical context. In particular, we loved seeing, and walking through, the walls of the orignal fortress, uncovered in the last expansion of the Louvre - something we would have completely missed if left to ourselves. As a bonus, Sophie provided us with narrated, linked, step-by-step maps that took us to and walked us through her neighborhood, le Marais. Our ensuing walk through Marché d’Aligre, la Coulée Verte, and Place des Vosges, among other locations, allowed us a delightful taste of Parisian life. If we ever get back to Paris, we’ll ask Sophie to give us a more in-depth view of her neighborhood and city. In short, we couldn’t have asked for more in a tour guide. Sophie is the whole package: warmth, energy, knowledge, and thorough preparation. We would gladly have spent more time in Sophie’s Paris.

Amazing first full day in Paris with Sophie! Not only did we go to neighborhoods we likely wouldn’t go ourselves but learned a lot about French history. Sophie was a pleasure and a highlight during our trip to Paris. We took the “off the beaten path” food tour with her where she brought us to local Parisian-owned cafes & bakeries that were not typical tourist hot spots. I love her care for locale fare and bringing to light the voices of the people living within the neighborhoods through their food. We got to go the behind the scenes and learn more about the heart and passion behind creating their specialty foods. Sophie is well-versed in the history and incorporates it while we walked from place to place. We got more than we anticipated from this tour. She even left us a list of her favorite list of vintage stores for our daughters to checkout. I highly recommend Sophie when exploring Paris!!
