Cappadocia. A prima vista, si possono vedere solo case in pietra e camini delle fate, ma la storia di questa terra scorre molto più in profondità. Una delle sue cicatrici più profonde viene dallo scambio di popolazione del 1923, quando voci che riempivano queste strade da secoli tacevano.
Una mattina, famiglie greche che non avevano conosciuto altra casa Bloccarono le porte per l'ultima volta. Si lasciarono alle spalle villaggi, case, vigneti e le tombe dei loro antenati. In turco, c’è un detto: “Gözün arkada kalmasın” — “Non preoccuparti, non guardare indietro”. Ma l'hanno fatto.

Mustafapasa
La prima tappa è Mustafapaşa, precedentemente conosciuta come Sinasos. Un tempo fiorente insediamento greco fino allo scambio di popolazione del 1923, i suoi vicoli lastricati in pietra, le opere in pietra decorate e i balconi in legno riflettono un tempo in cui i commercianti navigavano verso il Mar Nero, portando ricchezza che ha modellato l'architettura del villaggio.

Da Mustafapaşa, visiterete la chiesa di Cemil, un santuario scavato nella roccia meno conosciuto. I suoi affreschi, sebbene sbiaditi, portano ancora la devozione di coloro che un tempo si riunivano qui a lume di candela.

Keslik Monastery
Dopo un breve tragitto in auto, esplorerete il Monastero di Keşlik, un sito appartato nascosto tra le aspre colline. A differenza dei siti monastici più visitati, Keşlik conserva una tranquilla solitudine. Le sue chiese, Archangelos e Stephanos, presentano affreschi in tenui rossi e ocra, che conservano la loro storia. Il sistema idrico scavato nella roccia del monastero riflette l'intraprendenza di coloro che un tempo cercavano rifugio qui.

Sobesos Ancient City
Successivamente, visiterai la città antica di Sobesos, dove l'epoca romana prende vita. Scoperto per caso, Sobesos sfida l'idea che questa regione fosse abitata esclusivamente da abitanti delle grotte. Le sue strade lastricate in pietra, gli stabilimenti balneari e le sale del consiglio suggeriscono un centro urbano un tempo fiorente. Più piccole delle grandi rovine romane, i suoi mosaici pavimentali mostrano che l'influenza di Roma raggiunse profondamente l'Anatolia.

Soganli Valley
Attraverserete poi la valle di Soğanlı, dove il paesaggio racconta la sua storia. Chiese scavate nella roccia, scolpite da comunità monastiche in cerca di solitudine, costeggiano le scogliere. Nell'interno ombreggiato della chiesa di Karabaş, delicati affreschi di santi e apostoli osservano ancora dalle pareti oscurate dalla fuliggine. Poco distante, la chiesa di Yılanlı (la “chiesa del serpente”) raffigura San Giorgio che uccide un serpente simile a un drago, ricco di significato spirituale e simbolismo.

Nisa was our guide for three days and was fantastic. Always punctual and kind, she quickly became part of our group and took us to places we would never have found on our own, from beautiful terraces to cave dwellings still inhabited today. Her explanations were always simple, she took us to scenic spots where we could take beautiful photos, and she recommended local restaurants where we ate really well. It was a truly wonderful addition to our vacation.
Nisa was our tour guide in Cappadocia for three days during our private tour, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Thanks to her, we were able to visit all the most beautiful and fascinating places in Cappadocia and make the most of our time there. She was always punctual, precise and incredibly helpful, but also friendly, cheerful and full of enthusiasm. I visited Cappadocia on a 3-day tour guided by Nisa. It was a fantastic experience. In addition to sharing fascinating historical information about the places we visited, Nisa helped us experience them in the most authentic way possible. Thanks to the right scheduling of the visits, we avoid the most crowded moments. The visits were perfectly timed, with just the right breaks to relax, enjoy the day, and take in the breathtaking views. We couldn’t have hoped for a better experience, great price/quality ratio. Fantastic tour, A mixture of sights, culture, and Cappadocian hospitality. The tour I did was customised to a 4 day tour adding elements from the range of tours offered by the company. My Tour leader Nisa or “B” as I called her was a local and it made such a difference. We were able to dodge around the crowds as she knew local shortcuts and people. We were able to meet and eat with the locals and enjoy their hospitality. We went off the beaten tourist track sometimes, and when the weather didn't quite play nice, we adjusted accordingly. One of the greatest moments was drinking tea with one of the cavehouse owners and also having a lunch with a local couple. "B" has great suggestions for places to go to watch the sunset and also local restaurants. We went to local market and a stall keeper had me trying my haggling skills to sell him something!! It was more like visiting family and seeing the sights than going on a small tour! Our driver was efficient and safe and the van was immaculate. I will be back!
