My tour of Treme with D was absolutely brilliant. From the moment we met I knew I was in good hands. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and clearly dedicated to the work—definitely a daughter of Anansi♥️♥️♥️
Had an amazing morning with Dartanya! She was so accommodating to our family of 4. She was so knowledgeable, kind and funny. Can’t say enough great things about this tour. Def a must do!
Chit Chat Atlanta Tours curated the tour for my 90-year old father and I, however we were able to build it based on Anansi's Daughters. This Black History& Treme tour reminded me of the Historic West End neighborhood in Atlanta; Including the New Orleans African American Museum that is similar to the Hammond House in Atlanta. We enjoyed the Louis Armstrong Park and Congo Square. This tour was perfect for my father and I, as we created our own experience being the historian photographers that we are, discovering hidden gems.
It can be really hot so bring cooling tools - ice water, umbrella, fan, cooling wrap, etc. It was very educational!
This was my first time taking a historical tour in New Orleans, and one thing I wanted was a guide who was from the community that she was representing, and a locally owned a small business, someone who respects the people and the culture and is willing to tell the truth, even if it makes people uncomfortable. Dartanya was all of those things, not only that, it was evident that she was deeply passionate about the storytelling, and connected to the people, places, and events. Highly recommend and plan to tour with her again.
An absolute highlight of our visit! Dartanya is a fantastic storyteller who brought the history of Tremé to life. We left feeling enriched, inspired, and much more connected to the real heart of New Orleans. She shared so much fascinating history that we never would have discovered on our own. Truly an unforgettable experience! Thank you Anansi's Daughters crew!
The tour was absolutely amazing, the history, the deep roots the back stories all absolutely wonderful. You must take this tour if you’re a human being.
I highly recommend this tour. The guide was energetic and knowledgable. She packed A LOT of information into our tour. She always allowed time for questions, which was really nice.
