Your hosts—Filippa, Kostas, and Richard—welcome you to our Home in Chania to share our lifestyle and culinary traditions. Enjoy a local welcome drink or juice, prep our slow-cooked main dish, and place it in the oven. Next, walk through our garden to smell local herbs and harvest fresh produce. Back in the kitchen, pause for a break with traditional appetizers, barrel wine, raki, and fresh juices. Then prep the remaining recipes: knead dough for kalitsounia, make fresh tzatziki, and fry potatoes over an open fire. Finally, sit around a communal table to enjoy your home-cooked feast with wine, raki, juices, and homemade Cretan desserts!"**

Fantastic experience. Fresh ingredients picked from the garden on site. Hosts were exceptional, very welcoming. Highly recommend.
Earlier today, my wife and I spent 4 of the most wonderful hours one can imagine with our hosts at Hands On Cretan Cooking, Kostas and Philippa. They opened their wonderful home and garden to us in a genuinely warm and generous way. Philippa helped us to make Boureki with zucchini, goat cheese, and various other ingredients. She also helped us to make Tzatziki, and Cheese Pies. While the Boureki was baking Kostas showed us their great garden with all kinds of vegetables growing plus all of their olive trees. We gathered various vegetables from the garden and used them to make a fresh Cretan Salad. Kostas prepared chicken and Cretan French Fries from whole potatoes over an open fire. Once everything was prepared we enjoyed an ultra fresh, farm to table meal that we will remember forever. The best part of the Cooking Class was spending time with Kostas and Philippa, engaged in genuinely warm conversation and fellowship. We really wish we could have spent the rest of the day there enjoying their company. We highly recommend this activity when you are in the Chania area. You will never meet 2 more generous and loving individuals then Kostas and Philippa and will definitely it hard to find a more enjoyable cooking class then Hands On Cretan Cooking.
We had a wonderful time at the Chania Cooking Class! We truly enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere, delicious food, and warm hospitality. The three of us took part in the cooking class, and afterwards our (grand)children joined us for dinner, making a group of seven. Preparing the different traditional Greek dishes together and tasting the homemade products gave us a wonderful insight into life in Greece and, in particular, how important family is in Cretan culture. It was a lovely experience, full of great food, laughter, and meaningful moments together. We highly recommend this cooking class to anyone who wants to experience not only Cretan cuisine, but also the warmth and traditions behind it!
The whole experience was exceptional. The evening was well-orchestrated, the food was fresh and delicious, and the hosts were upbeat, very interactive and enjoyable to be with throughout the night. Our group highly recommends this!
Absolute delight of a day with Phillpa and Kostas. Loved the whole experience of cooking. Such fun recipes, great food, great company and wonderful drinks. Came as strangers left as friends
Philippa and Costa made us feel so welcome. We had such a great time, I felt disappointed that the hours flew by so quickly. To actually get my husband to make pasty was a great achievement, but Philippa has an amazing way of teaching. Hands on Cretan Cooking was recommended to us, and I would definitely recommend booking a course them if you want to spend time with two people who clearly enjoy sharing their knowledge of cooking and food growing.
This was absolutely the best four hours of time I’ve ever paid for it in my life! Costa and his wife Philippa were so delightful. We didn’t wanna leave. The food and experience was outstanding and we plan to take our family and refer friends as much as possible in the future.
What a wonderful experience! This organic Cretan cooking class was one of the highlights of our time in Crete. We picked fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit straight from the garden, which made every dish incredibly flavourful and authentic. The hosts were warm, welcoming and passionate about sharing traditional Cretan recipes and the stories behind them. Everything was hands-on, easy to follow and suitable for cooks of all levels. Sitting down afterwards to enjoy the meal we had prepared together, paired with local wine and surrounded by the beautiful countryside, made the experience even more special. If you’re looking for an authentic taste of Cretan culture, this class is a must. It’s far more than a cooking lesson—it’s a memorable experience that connects you with the island’s traditions, hospitality and incredible local produce. Highly recommended!
