Explore the battlefields and memorials where the first airborne-only attack in history took place. The Battle of Crete is unique because it's the first attack in history prepared and performed exclusively by airborne units. It was a man to man battle where belligerents had little support from their far-flung bases. In this tour we will give a detailed account of the battle of Crete regarding equipment, units, strengths and weaknesses, defence and attack positions, the course of battle and various stories! We can focus on specific units, nationalities or any interest you might have and customize the tour. We will visit the main battle locations in western Crete at Maleme and Galatas, two Cemeteries, an amazing collection of artifacts from the battle and a couple of Memorials. Bring a 30GB USB stick to load some reports, books, diaries, maps and photos of the Battle of Crete!

Souda Bay War Cemetery
På Commonwealth Cemetery ligger de allierade soldaterna som omkom i slaget om Kreta. Vi kommer att gå runt gravarna och berätta historier. Vi kommer också att besöka det närliggande 42:a gatans minnesmärke, där en bajonettladdning ägde rum.

German Military Cemetery
Kommer att besöka den tyska kyrkogården som ligger på den strategiska kullen 107 med utsikt över Malemes flygfält, och hur striden utvecklades. Kommer att göra ett snabbt stopp bredvid Malemes flygfält (det är fortfarande ett militärt område och tillträde är förbjudet). Vi kommer att gå till det allierade högkvarteret på toppen av kulle 107 med fin utsikt över området.

Tavronitis Bridge
Tavronitis Bridge spelade en viktig roll under slaget vid Kreta och det var ett av tyskarnas främsta mål under deras attack på Kreta. Nära där besöker vi också RAF-minnesmärket tillägnad RAF-piloterna som föll under striden.

Galatas
Vi kommer att besöka det grekisk-nyazeeländska minnesmärket vid Galatas bys huvudtorg, kommer att prata om slaget där och besöka en av de bästa WW2. Vi kommer också att besöka Welch-minnesmärket.

Tour was enjoyable- our tour guide George was funny with his “Trivial Pursuits” and wealth of knowledge. We felt like we were family. We will be back to Crete.
This was an excellent tour, extremely thorough and George was a fabulous host. We left the tour feeling like we knew the Battle of Crete intimately. As well George took the time to show us things that were of special interest specifically to us, and went out of his way to also give us recommendations of things to do around Chania.
Us and some of our friends chose to go off the beaten track and do a history tour with our tour guide George. The chance of getting to know so much for such a historical event and having George doing an amazing job making this tour an experience for us was trully the best thing for the day for us! If you live history take this tour! You will not regret it!
Great history tour about a Battle, not widely known between the Germans and the Allies. George picked us up promptly, took good care of us and took us to various places where the events took place and gave us abundant information and amazing details. Thank you George for having a great time!
