We had a huge group of 26 people and Pene and Kyoko were absolutely AMAZING. Above and beyond!! 100/10 recommend! We were visiting Nagasaki via a Princess Cruise and they met us promptly and easily at the port. They greeted each of us warmly and even brought super thoughtful gifts for the kids! I was so impressed by their generosity and hospitality. The tour itself was so well thought-out and went so smoothly despite us throwing plenty of curveballs at them (changing the schedule multiple times to accommodate different desires and time tables, fitting in extra fun stops despite difficult timing, adapting to smaller groups breaking off to go home early to attend to children). They seamlessly coordinated transportation for everyone, which was complicated considering we needed to use both vans and taxis throughout the tour. I’m sure it felt like herding cats, but Pene and Kyoko dealt with it all so professionally, gracefully, and with such fantastic attitudes! Each stop was such an interesting dive into Japanese history mixed with beautiful scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we did, which included seeing Nagasaki from a mountaintop, visiting Chinatown for delicious snacks, taking pictures at a historical bridge and a beautiful temple, exploring bomb shelters and the Atomic Bomb Museum, and wandering through Oura Cathedral and Glover Gardens. They clearly communicated time expectations and managed to keep track of all 26 members in our meandering group, which was an impressive feat! They were so attentive and quick to answer anyone and everyone’s questions, which honestly was a superpower given people were asking questions simultaneously! Pene, being a teacher, is also an absolute wealth of knowledge. One thing I really appreciated was the extra context he provided into Japanese culture and history that you wouldn’t find without a knowledgeable guide. For example, after going to the Atomic Bomb museum, he spent time to explain to us why Japan found themselves in such a position siding with the Axis Powers in World War II. I know that that specific context really helped deepen all of our understanding in a meaningful way (and even softened the hearts of some in our group). Lastly, despite our last stop being an easy 5-10 minute walk back to the port, they personally walked with us to send us off with a warm goodbye, staying to wave until we disappeared into the customs building. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot! I’ve been on a lot of tours and this was by far the best of them all. There should be no question in your mind as to who to go with if you’re deciding on who will take the best care of you and your loved ones while exploring Nagasaki. We truly felt like family by the end of it all!!
This tour was absolutely amazing! Not only were they VERY knowledgeable on routes to take due to traffic and weather, but also on the history. This was one of my favorite experience of the trip. The tour was fantastic but the tour guides are EXCEPTIONAL. They packed goodie bags for all the little ones in our group and even remembered we had a 7 month old and provided us with diapers and wipes that actually saved us in a few different cases. I haven’t had service like that anywhere! Everything was organized and timely. I honestly cannot say enough about this tour. Easily a no-brainer to book so enjoy!
Our tour experience with Pene and his wife Kyoko was above and beyond! We had a large group of 26 people (18 adults and 8 kids) on a family reunion arriving to Nagasaki by cruise. From the get-go, Pene was exceptionally communicative (with fantastic English!) and thoughtful in helping us plan our tour, answering all our questions, thinking through all the details/logistics and presenting multiple itinerary options to ensure we would have the best experience possible. Sure enough, when our Nagasaki tour day came, everything went smoothly from start to finish and exceeded our expectations. Pene and his wife Kyoko are a fantastic team who not only gave us a wonderful tour and thorough history of Nagasaki, but were also incredibly supportive of our group throughout the day. They gave all the kids personalized goodie bags (huge hit!), played with the kids while the adults toured the Atomic Bomb Museum and checked in with us throughout the day in case we needed to make any itinerary adjustments. We couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend booking with Pene and Kyoko!
We had a diverse group (26 people ages from 76 to 6 month old) traveling together on a tight schedule (must be back on the cruise ship by 6:30 pm). Pene and Kyoko provided a private tour so wonderful and memorable for us. His knowledge about the history and culture of Japan presented in easy-to-understand English was a rare find in Japan (from my prior experiences). His customer oriented flexibility to fit our last minute changes (due to a typhoon and rainy weather) was phenomenal. Compared to our private VIP tour in Disney World in Florida, Pene was exceptional in every way and at a fraction of the cost. I highly recommend Pene and his private tour in Nagasaki to y'all.
