From churchyards, open gardens, close up views of Edinburgh Castle and Castle rock, Grassmarket, Greyfriars Churchyard (Harry Potter related information - if requested), Victoria Street & West Bow, Upper Bow, Lawnmarket and side closes, St Giles' Cathedral, Law Courts and Upper Royal Mile. Then onto The New Town........

New Town
Designed in 18th Century, Georgian architecture, open spaces and history to the fore. More Georgian properties than York, Chester, Bath and Chichester added together. Also home to inventors, military and political leaders, scientists and physicians as well as literary and philanthropic greats that were resident here in the past. If time allows, we will pay a visit to old villages now part of the city.

Interesting and captivating stroll

We were 2 friends who wanted a great day to introduce ourselves to Edinburgh Gerry was our guide and really made our day He was so nice and full of great information that made every corner of the city fascinating He can tailor it to any interest you have But without this fantastic guide we would be lost! Fantastic Tour—Informative, Entertaining, and Full of Laughs!

This was such a fantastic way to experience Edinburgh! Gerry, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely funny. The tour was packed with fascinating history and interesting stories, but never felt like a history lecture. His humor and personality kept us laughing along the way. We learned so much about Edinburgh’s history, famous characters, hidden stories, and quirky traditions. Gerry had a great way of keeping the pace fun and interesting. If you’re visiting Edinburgh, I highly recommend this walking tour. Great sights, fascinating stories, and a guide who clearly loves what they do. Informative, entertaining, and definitely one of the highlights of our time in Edinburgh!

Easy to fall in love with Edinburgh when Gerry is your tour guide......

This tour was the absolute highlight of my recent trip to Edinburgh. Gerry was the perfect guide, as his knowledge about the city and country was most impressive as was his great sense of humor and the sharing of ‘fun facts’ about the culture. I would most definately recommend this tour company and hope to return again some day.

Great experience walking Old and New Towns with Gerry

Had a great walking tour experience with Gerry and highly recommend touring both Old and New Towns in Edinburgh. Gerry is a very nice person, instantly likeable and trustworthy. As a retired police officer from Edinburgh, he knows the city well and has thorough knowledge of history, dates, events, and culture. He has endless great stories that inform and entertain. But the best parts were the many ad hoc conversations along the way. Gerry is the kind of guy you'd want to sit next to in a pub for friendly conversation on many topics. He went out of his way to offer recommendations for our trip including things to see and great restaurant suggestions, especially in neighborhoods where locals eat, away from the hustle of the Royal Mile. Very glad we did the private tour with Gerry and give him a full recommendation.

Fantastic walking tour of Old and New Town

Our family of four had a fantastic tour of Old Town, New Town and Dean's Village with Gerry. This was the perfect way to get a historical overview of the city at the start of our visit. Not only was Gerry knowledgable and engaging, he was very flexible with timing and accomodating to a last minute schedule change. We will definitely be recommending his tour to any friends coming to visit this beautiful city.
