This was the best excursion we ever could have hoped for! Steven was a fantastic tour guide. We were traveling on a cruise and he picked us up at the port at the time promised. He .messaged us before the tour and wanted to know what we were looking forward to experience on the tour. He has a wealth of knowledge about Belfast and its history. We will never forget 8 hours we spent with him!
Our family spent two full days touring Northern Ireland with Steven from Hometown Tours Belfast—one exploring Belfast’s political history and the other traveling along the Causeway Coast. He was knowledgeable, personable, flexible and genuinely committed to making our visit memorable. We could not recommend him more highly. Our Belfast tour included the Falls Road, political murals and memorials, the peace walls and Sinn Féin headquarters. Steven offered a balanced, thoughtful and deeply human perspective on the Troubles and the ways they continue to shape the city. He handled a complicated subject with sensitivity and brought Belfast’s history to life in a way no guidebook could. The following day, Steven took us along the spectacular Northern Irish coast. Our itinerary included Carrickfergus Castle, Gleno Waterfall, picturesque seaside villages, the Giant’s Causeway and a view of Royal Portrush Golf Club. It was a relaxing and memorable day that gave us a wonderful appreciation of the Northern Irish countryside. Steven was exceptionally easy to work with. He collected us from our hotel, tailored both days around our interests, dropped us off wherever was most convenient and took excellent photographs of our family along the way. He is a clear and engaging storyteller, so we never missed any of the history or local knowledge he shared. What impressed us most was how far Steven went beyond his role as our guide. We were also helping our son move into university housing at Queen’s University Belfast, and Steven essentially became our local concierge. He coordinated additional drivers for the move, recommended excellent restaurants and even checked in with us after our tours had ended. He truly cared about making our entire stay a success. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, easy-going and accommodating private guide, do not hesitate to request Steven. He gave our family an exceptional introduction to Belfast, the Causeway Coast and this very special part of the world.

My wife and I opted to go with Steven at Hometown Tours Belfast for our first visit to Northern Ireland. Originally I planned to rent a car and drive the coast on our own. I’m so glad I went with Steven instead. He is a great guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and super professional. He adjusted our route to avoid incoming rain and it worked out perfectly. Definitely a great value overall.
We had the absolute best day with Steven! We did a full day private ship excursion seeing the Northern coast and Giant’s Causeway and he went above and beyond with being informative and helpful and he seriously treated us like royalty. We could not believe how much he was able to fit in for our time on shore and he was also incredibly intuitive and added things onto the agenda that would specifically interest us, like seeing a golf course and a waterfall. So thoughtful and such a hard worker! My husband and I and our two teenagers had such a spectacular day learning about and seeing this gorgeous part of the country!
3 of us were picked from our hotel in a great sized people carrier and from the off we were regaled with tales and history of Belfast before we headed off up the coast for a fantastic tour through Carrickfergus and along the Antrim Coast Road from Larne through to Cushendall with lots of stops along the way to see the sights (and Scotland!) with an excellent stop off at the Harbourview Hotel and it’s amazing Whiskey! Then over to Ballycastle and a fish and chip stop before heading to the amazing Giants Causeway. The rain didn’t dampen our enthusiasm and a stop at the Dark Hedges on the route home topped off an excellent day trip! Steven was an excellent tour guide / host / driver/ purveyor of knowledge and was happy to stop where we wanted to see and gave us loads of good info and knowledge about all things Northern Ireland (and beyond!) 11/10!!
Informative, included many highlights of Antrim, stops for coffee, lunch, and Bushmills. Giants Causeway is well worth the trip, as is the hanging rope bridge.
