The route across the sands at low tide is atmospheric, evoking the time of Saxon Kings and Celtic Priests. We are likely to see and hear Grey seals as they bask on the sands. You will hear stories dating back to Roman times and can begin to imagine early pilgrims making the crossing to pay their respects to St Aidan and St Cuthbert. Holy Island is a special place and the best way to approach it is across the sands - walking barefoot if you want to get the most from your experience!
The walk is one-way to the island, returning to the start point in my vehicle after we have spent some free time on Holy Island.

Lindisfarne Priory
We will be able to take in a panoramic view of the Priory from the rocky outcrop on the island. There is also the chance to explore the village and purchase refreshments.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Pilgrims Path walk with Ray. He was a fantastic guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. We paused several times along the route and he entertained us with stories of the history of Northumbria and Lindesfarne. He also discussed the different types of vegetation and wildlife along the causeway, including a group of seals we saw. Would definitely recommend.
A very enjoyable walk over to Holy island, Ray our guide has such a wealth of knowledge about the history surrounding Northumberland I would recommend it to anyone
We had a lovely day, Ray was very reassuring, personable and informative guide who made the walk interesting and so simple to take part in. Information about what to bring, what to expect and where to meet was provided in a timely manner and the pace and structure of the day ensured it was suitable for everyone in the group. We loved the history of Lindisfarne and Northumbria information that was shared as we walked giving context and depth to the tour. Many thanks Ray couldn’t recommend it enough.
Had a wonderful walk with Ray! It is a walk😳 but Ray made it really enjoyable. The way he told the history during the walk was perfect. Bite size and entertaining. Learned so much about the history and the kings. Then also got to talk with him about other things. Really enjoyable experience.

I can’t rate the tour with Ray across the sands highly enough. He guided us safely across the sands and provided history tales of Lindisfarne’s past as we went. It was magical to do the walk and Ray went out of his way to get us all back to the mainland before the tide came in . He even checked we had found the local bus we needed. I would recommend the tour highly.
