   Hittite sanctuary in the rocks near Bogazkoy in the central part of the Anatolian plateau (Turkey). Discovered by the French scientist Charles Texier in 1838. Explored in 1838 - 1839. The Yazilykaya inscriptions were deciphered and read by the French researcher Emmanuel Laroche in 1952-1969.

   Hattusa, Hattusas or Hattus is the capital of the ancient Hittite kingdom. The site is located near the modern Turkish village of Boğazkale in central Anatolia near the Kızılırmak River, 145 km east of Ankara. The settlement was discovered in 1834, excavations have been ongoing since 1906.
