What a great experience. Nico and Tim were great hosts and told us so much about Mykonos and their food. Chef Rita guided us through food prep and explained the proper way to make Tzatziki salad and a Greek salad. We also prepared eggplant, sausage and meatballs. Best tzatziki and Greek salad I have ever had
This experience was the highlight of our visit to Mykonos! The host shared her family history, we got to light prayer candles in the family Greek Orthodox Chapel, and of course we helped to make some delicious food! The wine flowed freely. The traditional meal we made was scrumptious. And we finished the afternoon with a Greek communal dance. What a hoot!
What a wonderful morning we spent with Joanna and her family. She told us lots about the history of Mykonos over coffee and home made biscuits, then we helped to prepare our lunch. We then sat down to eat, Greek salad, meatballs, sausage cooked in wine, tzatziki, aubergines in tomato sauce and fresh bread. I would highly recommend this tour - getting away from the beach and joining a family in the hills to prepare a wonderful meal.
By far, one of the best experiences we have had on Viator. We cooked, we drank, we learned Greek family culture and we danced. This is a do not miss!
We cruised through the Aegean to Santorini, Rhodes, Mykonos, Kuşadası, and Thessaloniki and while all locations were amazing, our cooking class at Kafedena's Village was undoubtedly the highlight! We LOVED meeting Tim, Rita, Ioanna, and their family and friends! And we were fascinated learning about the history of Mykonos, Kafedena's Village, and their family and were so honored to be treated like friends and guests. The philoxenia was off the charts! Their village was amazing: so full of history and family and so inviting. We were inspired by their kontosouvli outdoor kitchen and loved cooking with them. The food was better than any of the other restaurants in all the other locations we visited--and not only because we learned and made it with them. The tzatziki was fuller, richer, and bursting with flavor! The keftedes (homemade Mykonian meatballs) made us want to never eat any other kind of meatball ever again. We're going to have to add Eggplant into our garden now, but have a feeling our kids are going to actually eat it! The Mykonian Greek Salad made other Greek Salads seem sad. The bread, the cookies, the Mykonian coffee, and the sausage!!! I would say the only problem is that we had to leave it all behind . . . except we didn't. We got to take all that knowledge and those recipes home with us! But we hope to go back again anyway!
What a great day. Tim and Joanna greeted us with open arms from the beginning. We walked to the meetup, took 30 minutes but it is a steep hill. The cooking experience with the chef was so much fun, with a beer to stay cool. Then the best part, you eat fantastic Greek food. Then some wine and dessert. I’m telling you, book this excursion right now,we would do it 10 more times if possible. Tim and Joanna were the best.
This was an amazing glimpse into Mykonos dining and cultural history. All the hosts were friendly and clearly explained how to make the dishes, as well as, the history and significance of each dish. Highly recommend this experience.
This was a fabulous activity!! The hosts opened their homes to us and shared the most fantastic food and experience. They started with coffee and cookies, we meal prepped, they shared wine and a specialty moonshine, we ate fantastic and authentic cuisine, and we were taught Greek dancing. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone looking for an authentic Greek experience with a very inviting atmosphere. Thank you for a fantastic time!!!
