The majority of our guests enjoy a drive through Inverness for views of the river, town house and castle. There is of course the option to stop in Inverness to see the cathedral or go for a wander around the city should you wish to do so.

Culloden Battlefield
A popular stop on the tour is Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last pitched battle on British soil. There's a really good visitor centre here with a 360 cinema which puts you right at the heart of the battle. The alternative is to take a walk around the battlefield, visit the cairn and take a look around Leanach cottage.

Clava Cairns
From the battlefield it's only a short drive to the Culloden Viaduct and Clava Cairns which features a selection of standing stones and is an interesting example of a well preserved Bronze Age cemetery.

Cawdor Castle is one of our favourite castles in Scotland. Still used as a family home its kind owner moves out in April to allow guests a chance to wander her castle and grounds. Top tip: we love wandering around the walled gardens.

We meet all guests just outside the gates of the Invergordon Port. You will be met from the ship at the end of the pier at a pre-arranged time which suits your group. Usually as early as possible so that you can make the most of your day and hit the attractions before the cruise crowds descend.

We had an absolutely fantastic tour from Invergordon with Willie as our guide. If I could give him 10 stars, I would! Willie greeted us in a classic Scottish kilt, which made the experience feel authentic from the very beginning. He was incredibly funny, engaging, and exceptionally well organized. Everything ran smoothly, and his knowledge of Scotland, its history, and its culture made every stop even more interesting. Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed the day. Willie has a wonderful personality and clearly loves what he does, and that enthusiasm made the tour memorable for all of us. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Invergordon. Thank you, Willie, for an unforgettable day!
We had a wonderful time with Susan. Our plan changed due to a wreck on the road we were going to take. Then the boat tour canceled due to high waves. Susan quickly altered the plan and route. We were flexible as well. There were new things added and some must see locations gone to. She took us to a great spot to see the loch, and my wife put her feet in the water. Which was her one big wish. It was gorgeous. She did a great job of explaining the cairns and Culloden to us. As well as the other stops. And steered us right when it came to other certain stops. Excellent driver, never once feared for my life on the little roads.
We loved our tour! Our guide, Willie was WONDERFUL - he took such good care of everyone in our group. We had ages 11-76 and he made sure that everyone got what they wanted out of the tour. The car was super comfy 😀. Everything was professional and we were so glad we booked a private tour over a group one because we got more in. If this area is important to you and you only have one day - splurge on the private tour.
Gavin was fabulous! Our family of four spent the day with Gavin as our driver and guide and had a fantastic day! The lessons in Scottish Whisky were particularly enjoyable. Loch Ness, Urquardt Castle, Clava Cairns and Cawdor Castle were all part of our tour. Pickup and dropoff were seamless and we saw and learned a lot during our day. And a special thanks for the tips on Mrs. Tilly's, Tunnocks and the chicken curry pie! An unforgettable day!
We enjoyed our day-long private tour of the Scottish Highlands. The tour was arranged by Gavin and Peter was our guide. Gavin is an outstanding communicator. He went out of his way to find out what we were interested in seeing and doing and tailored our tour accordingly - which we appreciated and which made the day especially meaningful. Peter is a wonderful guide. He is calm and has a lovely way about him. We never felt rushed or pressured. He is a lifelong resident of the area we toured and was able to share lots of information and insights about the history, culture and life in the region. An unexpected and delightful highlight was a stop at a self-serve farm stand where we enjoyed fresh milk and ice cream. He fit that in after he mentioned it and we expressed interest - which was a nice touch. Highly recommend this company and tour.
Our family group of 10 chose this private tour rather than an excursion through our cruise line, and we’re glad we did. Fiona was an extremely knowledgeable guide and a delightful person to spend the day with! We were able to customize the sights we wanted to see, which worked out well for our large group. He tailored the trip to what our family wanted and gave us history, personal stories, music, whiskey, all the best stops, and took photos for us! A visit to Loch Ness has always been toward the top of my bucket list and this tour did not disappoint. I dealt with Gavin who was always responsive to my requests and questions. For example not long before the tour date Gavin kindly switched vehicles when we decided one of our group needed more legroom. Our guide Iain was waiting for us just outside of the cruise terminal looking sharp in his kilt. We had a wonderful day due to Iain. He was funny, informative, a safe driver and was full of suggestions regarding options with our itinerary. We enjoyed a beautiful day to explore Urquhart Castle and grounds before we boarded the boat to cruise Loch Ness. Following that we had lunch at the cafeteria/restaurant at Culloden Battlefield relaxing and warming up on Scotch broth and fresh baked bread. Our final stop of the day took us to Cawdor Castle and its amazing gardens that happened to be in full bloom during our visit in early May. We then enjoyed a wee bit of whiskey to cap off the day. I hope to return one day with my granddaughter and have Iain again as our guide. Hopefully by then he will have retrieved his trapped charging cable to his EV from the charger at Culloden Battlefield! Thanks again Gavin and Iain!
