Amazing walking food and sightseeing tour of Takayama with our excellent tour guide Harry. Wonderful choice of street food and a fabulous tour of sights around picturesque Takayama. Harry expertly guided us around all the various foods and was able to give us some interesting insights into Takayama, the local area and Japanese culture. You certainly won't be hungry after the tour, but you will have seen the best of Takayama.
Harry provided an excellent tour of Takayama - its Temples, Shrines, the Old Town and most of all its FOOD! His historical knowledge was first-rate and he was able to talk to so many unique elements of Takayama’s history and its food culture as we walked the markets and the streets. Harry even allowed us time to walk-off breakfast with some early Shrine visits and build up our appetite for Takayama’s abundant and varied street food. Thanks Harry for your time and your wider guidance for touring Japan, we wish you all the very best for your continued Japan Adventures. P&J.
Wow, this experience has been absolutely incredible. The tour was the perfect mix of eating, walking, and learning about the local culture. We tried a variety of foods that I probably wouldn’t have picked on my own, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. But the true star of the show was our guide, Harry. Harry was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience feel personal instead of rushed. He explained the history behind the local dishes, pointed out cool spots in the old town, and even gave great recommendations for places to check out afterward. Best tour I have had in Japan by far.
Our time in Takayama was unforgettable, and a huge part of that was thanks to Harry. He was an incredible guide, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty and history of the area. Harry didn’t just show us around; he brought Takayama to life. From the charming old streets to the hidden local spots we never would’ve found on our own, every stop felt thoughtfully chosen. He shared fascinating stories, cultural insights, and little details that made everything so much more meaningful. The food was sooooo delicious! What really stood out was how welcoming and easygoing he was. It felt less like a formal tour and more like exploring the city with a friend who truly loves where they live. He made sure we were comfortable, answered all our questions, and even gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip.
Amazing day, our guide Hino was fantastic, lots of information and good banter, the food stops were top tier! He even went above and beyond and helped us out with some shopping and recommended some great spots to checkout in the evening 👌
Hemi was a great guide with excellent food recommendations. We learned alot and enjoyed his company. Highly recommend.
