Okinawa Private Snorkeling Tour Blue Cave Hotel pickup available

Hiro was awesome! He took so many pictures and videos so my daughter and I have this experience to remember for years to come! It was very nice to have a private guide and not get caught up in the larger crowd of a group visit.

We booked the Private Snorkeling Tour at Blue Cave Okinawa with Hiroki Shinoda, and honestly speaking, we wouldn't have found him at all without some help. My parents are 71 and 75, and several tour operators turned us down outright for being over 65. It got to the point where I ended up messaging a TripAdvisor support agent directly, who dug up the Viator listing for us. As far as I can tell, Hiroki might be one of the very few guides in the area actually willing to take people that age out on the water, and from the first minute with him, it was clear why he can. Our group was my wife, myself, and my parents (71 and 75), and by the time we found Hiroki we'd already been turned down by a few other operators through TripAdvisor. That being said, Viator pointed us his way, and from the first minute it was clear he wasn't fazed in the slightest. He called my parents "Mama" and "Papa" all day and never once let on that he was worried. He just kept telling us it would be fine and that he had it handled. In my experience, that kind of calm is rarer than it should be, and it made all the difference. The actual descent to the water was rough: a long stone staircase down to Blue Cave, then rocky coral underfoot, and my mother's knees are not built for that kind of terrain. Hiroki pulled her the whole way on an inflatable, staying right beside her, patient the entire time (I genuinely don't know how he kept it up in that heat). Once we were in the water, it was worth every bit of the trouble getting there. The fish around Cape Maeda were something else, long thin silvery ones, reef fish in red, yellow, white, blue, more colors than I could keep track of. The cave glowed this deep blue that photos don't quite capture, and the water was crystal clear despite the brutal midday sun (we went out around noon, roughly two hours total including gear-up). He kitted all four of us out properly, wetsuits, booties, gloves, masks, fins, and had photos and video sent over on WhatsApp before we'd even dried off. Turns out Hiroki also guides Japanese travelers abroad, often older clients heading to Spain or Italy, which probably explains where this level of patience comes from. He's fluent in English and gets by in Spanish too. Word gets around apparently. A few days later we booked a completely separate dive with another company, and that guide had already heard about "the older folks who went snorkeling." My parents may be a small local legend at this point. Five stars doesn't really cover it. Regardless of who you are traveling with - young, old, mobile, a little less - book with Hiroki. You will not regret it.

This is Hirokingu's second time as a guide! This time I participated in Tar Falls trekking and Blue Cave snorkeling. At Tar Falls, children were overjoyed by Hirokingu's funny and attentive commentary! They also tried waterfalls and diving into rivers, and were thrilled with their parents before jumping in, but all smiled with exhilaration and accomplishment after flying. The Blue Cave is also blessed with good weather, and you can enjoy the superb blue scenery and feeding the fish to your heart's content. The support for people who can't swim is also complete and secure. Not only did they take good care of our safety, but they also told us about other recommended sightseeing spots outside of the tour, which greatly increased our overall satisfaction! The pictures I received were all wonderful and filled with smiles, which was a great memory. The children also said, "I like Okinawa even more!" I am very satisfied with that. If you want to enjoy 120% of Okinawa, Hirokingu is definitely for you! I look forward to seeing you again next time!
